What we do?

We support families in need - mainly single mothers and their children - through a variety of charitable actions that can help improve their living conditions. Our activities include: supply of basic needs and materials, as well as contributing to vocational and educational training. Which in term, will enable them to better support themselves.

We also bring hope, warmth, smiles and moments of joy to children in Orphanages and foster homes through personalised Christmas Boxes, Back-To-School Packs and Birthday Celebration Parties. These are key moments in the lives of children who are away from loved ones.

How it all started?

This charitable project began on a winter evening in 2014, in Geneva, Switzerland. While walking home from work, Alexandrina (our founder) spotted pairs of discarded shoes in good condition on a roadside.

Knowing that many children in her home country Moldova were in need of adequate footwear, oftentimes walking through snow and mud in socks and sandals, she sent the shoes to an orphanage and thus began the Happy Links journey.

That same Christmas, Alexandrina came across some letters to Santa written by children at a Moldovan hospital for cancer treatment. After translating and posting them on her Facebook page, she received an overwhelming number of responses from her contacts in Geneva and beyond. She was able to collect and donate new and used toys to the hospital, making a memorable Christmas for the children.

Why Moldova?

Growing up in Moldova, Happy Links founder Alexandrina saw the struggles of many families, simply trying to survive winters. They lived in very poor conditions, often struggling to feed their children, keep them warm, and send them to school.

While living and working in Switzerland, Alexandrina realised that she could mobilise her community to make a difference in the lives of poor children and families in Moldova.
